Where Is Maui Located?


Maui is part of the State of Hawaii, and is the second-largest of the Hawaiian islands; the largest being the island of Hawaii. It is located in the Central Pacific, around 2,300 miles west of San Francisco, California.


Maui is serviced primarily by Kahului Airport ("OGG"). OGG is located on the northern edge of the land bridge between Haleakala and the West Maui Mountain Range on the island of Maui.

The island is known for its world-famous beaches, migrating humpback whales, local cuisine, and the beautiful sunrise and sunset from Haleakala—a towering dormant volcano!

The hottest months to visit Maui on average are August and September, with the average high being around 86 °F. The "coldest" months to visit Maui on average are January, February, and March, with the average low being around 65 °F!


Showers are common in Maui, although they may not last very long. The wettest month on average to visit Maui is in December, with the accumulation being close to 3.5” of rainfall. The driest month on average to visit Maui is June, with the accumulation being less than 0.5” of rainfall.


Sunshine is plentiful in Maui! On average there are 276 sunny days per year.
